Unite for Charity

Endurance sport fundraising is one of the largest and most visible avenues of purposeful competition.  The Unite Half Marathon is very proud to serve as a foundation that enables its athletes to raise many thousands of dollars for charitable organizations from all over.

The UNITE for Charity program is a great way to support your favorite cause. Most of these teams provide group training and coaching, inspiration and motivation that will get you to finish and most significantly, you help raise money to support your favorite cause.

To race with one of our official UNITE partners below simply click on the link provided with that organization and the organization will take it from there!

Support Rutgers Sport Clubs

The UNITE Half Marathon at Rutgers University will provide an opportunity for Rutgers Sport Clubs to generate much needed dollars to keep their sports going. We ask that you consider donating even just $1 when registering to help these sport clubs continue for many years into the future.

What are Sport Clubs?

Long before varsity athletics provided an outlet for youthful energies, the men of Rutgers, like so many of their counterparts at the other colonial colleges, were privately challenging students from other schools to meet them "on the banks" for a little friendly competition.

Today, Rutgers Sport Clubs continue on as student run organizations that exist to assist individuals to develop skills and improve their performance in a particular sport or physical activity. Sports Clubs may be instructional and/or competitive in nature, with the competitive clubs competing against other schools and leagues all around the country.

How You Can Help Today
There are 50 sports clubs at Rutgers. Unlike the varsity sports that are funded by the University, the sport clubs are student organized, student funded and in many cases student coached. They are the closest thing to amateur sports in this country. The students do very well. Every year between 8 and 10 teams qualify for their nationals and many clubs are ranked in the top 25 teams across the country.

But there is a problem. Because the clubs are student funded the athletes on each team must raise the funds, through dues and special projects, to support their seasons. For some, the assessment to play is over $2,000. For many others it is between $500 and $1500. This makes it very difficult for a large group of students to participate. Donating to the Sport Club Travel fund would help reduce the expenses the students incur when they travel to various competitions which would substantially reduce the dues they pay.

Supporting the Sport Clubs at Rutgers does more than make it possible for students to experience team competition, it helps build leaders and strong team players - something our society needs badly.

When registering we ask that you consider making a donation to Rutgers Sport Clubs~ we ask that you UNITE with us and make a difference.

What can you do with your old cell phone? Recycle it …. AND make a difference!

Please consider donating any no-longer used phones and accessories to UHopeLine. Cell phones can be in any condition and from any wireless service provider. You can drop off your old cell phone and accessories at the Health & Fitness Expo on April 16th and April 17th or on Race Day! Donation bins will be located in the Start and Finish line areas on Race Day, as well as at a booth during the Expo!

The UHopeLine program serves a dual purpose of protecting the environment and supporting survivors of violence against women. Proceeds from UHopeLine are used to provide wireless phones and cash grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic and dating violence prevention and awareness. Phones that can be refurbished are provided to survivors of domestic violence for reuse and those without value are recycled or disposed of in an environmentally sound way.

Helping cancer survivors and their families live healthy and strong, using fitness – physical, nutritional and emotional – as the foundation for every day.  Serving amazing people throughout the greater Philadelphia area and New Jersey.

Surviving Strong is continually building a network of survivors, coaches, instructors, mentors and opportunities.  Next spring, Surviving Strong will be bringing a team to the Unite Half Marathon series at Rutgers University.  In preparing for this event, we will have regular and ongoing training to help any interested person reach their first or fastest half marathon.  And while Surviving Strong is about bringing fitness and activity into daily life and not just about racing, completing a race is a fantastic way to celebrate your achievements and show cancer who is boss while telling the world what cancer will not slow us down!

Please consider joining the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation’s team, ‘OUR MOMENT’ when we participate in the Unite Half Marathon at Rutgers University this spring.

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation seeks to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eradicate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs.  Twenty years ago, Elizabeth Glaser realized there was a moment to act—to change attitudes, demand action, and give a voice to children and families affected by HIV and AIDS.

Just as Elizabeth realized her moment to act we hope this event will be our moment; our moment to raise awareness for the work of the foundation and our moment to realize the strength and power within ourselves.  As an OUR MOMENT member you will receive weekly newsletters full of helpful training tips, have a chance to get to know each other before race day on our facebook page, possibly get together for some group training runs and hopefully receive the support and encouragement you need to complete your training and reach the finish line. Of course a great team t-shirt and goody bag is also part of the deal.

On OUR team there will be no fundraising goal to meet, merely pay your own registration fee then donate $20 to EGPAF to join OUR team.  If you wish to raise additional funds we will do so as a team, through a central website with a moderate fundraising goal.  We do ask that you get to know a little about the foundation and take this moment to let others know about the essential work EGPAF is doing for children around the world.

To join our team or get more details email us at JOINtheMOMENT@gmail.com.

Team Molly Bear is a group of regular people who participate in triathlons and road races of varying lengths, to raise awareness of Trisomy 18 and funds for families impacted by the condition, in memory of Molly Brown.

The Molly Bear Foundation provides supplemental financial assistance to families raising children with Trisomy 18, and the organizations that support them.  Trisomy 18, sometimes called Edwards Syndrome, is a genetic condition caused by a chromosomal defect where there are three occurences of the 18th chromosome, rather than the normal two.  It occurs in about one in every 3000 live births.  Each case is different, and there are varying degrees of developmental issues and medical complications associated with Trisomy 18, but many of these issues are potentially life-threatening in the early stages of development.  While many children born with Trisomy 18 will not survive these early challenges, more and more babies are beating the odds, living longer lives, and bringing joy to their families.  The Molly Bear Foundation was created to support these families as they travel this challenging road.
